Children and young people in vulnerable communities often face limited access to education, safe spaces, skills and opportunities to participate and shape their futures. For girls in particular, social and economic barriers can further restrict their freedom, confidence and ability to make informed decisions. In such a setting, creating safe spaces through sports, education and life skills can help children build confidence, develop their potential and recognise their rights to protection, participation and development.

iPartner India’s Rakshan project in West Bengal, aims to create safer and more supportive environments for children and young adolescents through sports, education, digital literacy,
life skills, counselling, theatre training and awareness on Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health Rights (ARSHR).

Regular football and basketball sessions help children develop physical strength, teamwork, discipline and leadership, while remedial education and digital literacy support their learning
and future opportunities. Life skills, gender and rights-based sessions, counselling and ARSHR awareness strengthen young people’s knowledge of health, hygiene, sexual and reproductive health, gender equality and informed decision-making.

Any support for this cause will help 200 girls from vulnerable communities gain access to sports training, remedial education, and essential life skills, enabling them to grow with confidence, make informed choices, pursue opportunities as professional players, and participate in larger tournaments and sporting platforms at both regional and national levels.
